How to Lose Chest Fat for Men - An Introduction

No man wants to have man boobs, I mean lets face it, being a guy, you don't want to be wearing a bra, and we certainly don't want to have bigger breasts than our girlfriend or wife. Having chest fat makes you feel unattractive, and affects your self esteem. In a famous study, man boobs was third on the list of turn offs for when it came to dating women (the first being lack of confidence...but that's another story). Yes it makes you feel bad, and as every man knows the biggest way to attract women is by having confidence within yourself. If you feel bad about the way you look, then it is going to show and may ultimately affect dating and your relationships.

But even more than that, feeling good about yourself is more important than winning the opposite sex over. When you look good, you feel good, and you have the confidence to achieve all kinds of goals for yourself. Having a good body is also a sign of a healthy lifestyle, which means that you will be able to accomplish more, and have a lot more fun in life.

However all is not lost, just because you have man boobs does not mean you have to live with them forever. What is the ultimate solution? It all really comes down to exercise and diet. But before we get to that, lets find out why you have man boobs in the first place.

There are two main reasons why guys have chest fat. Lets look at the most obvious reason first.

Your overweight. Chest fat is basically fatty tissue covering the pectoral muscles, if this is you, then most likely you will be overweight in all areas of your body, not just the chest. Really, what it will come down to is leading a healthier lifestyle, such as exercising regularly and eating the right kinds of food. You will not be able to eliminate fat from just one specific area of the body (A common misconception when it comes to losing weight) instead you must focus on your overall body fat percentage. Once you do this you will see a significant decrease in size in your man boobs, as well as the rest of your body.

The second reason is a medical condition called gynecomastia. This is a medical condition that needs to be seen to by a doctor. Gynecomastia occurs when body produces too much estrogen and not enough testosterone, there are a wide variety of reasons that can cause this but the most common reason is because certain medications can cause a hormonal imbalance (such as anabolic steroids) within the body. Another reason is having a testicular tumor, which in turn causes an increase of estrogen in the body.

If you are fairly healthy and lead an active lifestyle and you do have some of the symptoms of gynecomastia then a trip to the doctor is needed. If a doctor determines that you have this condition, then you may be given advice to cease any medication that may be causing the problem, or give you an anti estrogen medication. If the problem does not improve a surgical procedure may be required. Fortunately these reasons are pretty rare and losing chest fat is something that can be done at home in your own time.
